QHNEWS--A tourism company in Qinghai announces that a 7,000-ton deluxe cruiser will be launched for attracting more tourists.
Several academicians from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) oppose the announcement on account of the serious pollution to the Qinghai Lake caused by the action.
¡°The action will destroy Qinghai Lake.¡±say the academicians. The ecological security should be taken into account before developing tourism items, the academicians emphasized.
Jiang Youxu, an academician of CAS, says that a 7,000-ton cruiser can generate exhausted oil, waste water and garbage, which are destructive to Qinghai Lake.
¡°Lake control has not been provided with very good measures even in global field and it will be a difficult problem once a lake is polluted even if it has a water exit.
Qinghai lake is an inland lake lying on plateau, which only has water entrance but without water exit. In such circumstances, contamination generated by the cruiser cannot be discharged in a floating way, thus the lake water would be polluted permanently without possibility of recovering and it will force to unrecoverable impact on the ecological circle of Qinghai Lake.¡±added Jiang.
