According to the custom of Tibetan Buddhism, the visitors should know the following etiquette and prohibitions.
¢ñ.Presenting khadas (silk scarves)is a popular etiquette.Ifyou want to present a khada to a living Buddha, you can fold it longwise and put it over his hands, but never over his neck. Yet the Living Buddha can put it over your neck.
¢ò.In the halls you are not allowed to touch the Buddhist classics, statues of Buddhas, musical instruments and other enshrined things. Especially you mustn't step over them.
¢ó.When you are recognizing the statues of Buddhas, you can't point at the status with single finger, you should politely show the statues with one hand with the palm upward.
¢ô.No smoking, spitting or making noise in the halls. Don't be overcritical of the Buddas or Living Buddhas.
¢õ.You should not ask about the Living Buddha's private life. ¢ö.When you turn the Scripture-Turning wheels, Please do it clockwise. Don't spin them in reverse because this is an insult to the monks.
