    Tsong Kha-pa , was born at in 1357 (Yuan Dynasty).He was ordained an initial monk at age 3. He cut his hair and became a child monk at age 7and went to Tibet for further study at age 16.

    For several dozens years he studied religion very hard, consulted many master monks and Buddhist scholars, researched the sutras of Exoteric(ÏÔ×Ú) and of Esoteric£¨ÃÜ×Ú£©Buddhism and he acquired the profound knowledge of Buddhism.

    He wrote some important books such as ¡° The Degrees of the Path of Enlightenment: and an Extensive Study of the Degrees of Tantra-path.¡±

    During Tsong Kha-pa's time , some Buddhist sects were getting corrupted, in order to rectify this, he launched a reform movement to stress discipline and observation of Buddhism and also advocated strict disciplines that had to be obeyed by all the disciples who majored in Exoteric Buddhism of in Esoteric Buddhism.

    All these he asserted were respected greatly by Buddhism believers. In the year when he was 53 years old.

    Tsong Kha-pa presided over a big congregation to preach a sermon . After that he built Gan Dan Lamasery in Da Zi county , east of Lhasa, where he led his followers to preach sermons, teach sutras and established Shan Gui Sect ( good behavior Sect).

    He died in 1419 at the age of 63 (the 25th of December of the year of pig in the Tibetan calendar). Since the religious reform launched by Tsong Kha-pa and his followers suited the need of the society at that time, it was given a strong support by the Qing imperial government and the Mongolian He Shuo Te tribe.

    Gradually Shan Gui Sect spread over Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, Inner-Mongolia and other regions, becoming the most influential sect having many more believers than other Buddhist sects and becoming the power of Tibetan local government as well. Editem (Dec.25, 2004)
