The Northern Taoist Temple is situated halfway up Beishan ( North Mountain) in Xining . Over 1,400 years old, the temple was built in the Han and Wei Period (386-534). Built on a mountain slope overlooking a deep valley, it is connected to the "Nine Grottoes and Eighteen Caves¡±"by plank paths, little bridges and corridors.
In the caves you will find vivid Buddhist murals including pictures of Laozi, founder of Taoism in China, and the legendary Eight immortals.
The architectural structure of the two-story main building is unique and exquisite. The cable car at the foot leads to the top of the hill, where people can enjoy a bird-eye view of the city of Xining. On top of the North Mountain is Peace and Longevity Pagoda, which has a history of more than 600 years. Editem
