A river segments a city into parts , then a bridge connects them. Xining , as capital of Qinghai Province, has changed its appearance a lot in recent year. There have been newly-built crossroads and overpasses spanning across high buildings like rainbows .
Not only have they exert functions in the communication of the city, but also have beautified the appearance of the city. The existing and future bridges will play a better role in the social and economic development. Looking about all the main bridge in Xining, what heard of most is that the bridges not only make people's going-off convenient, but also raise the city's grade. Citizens think there have been more bridges that are wider and nicer.
Kunlun Bridge , as a symbolic building in Xining's heartland, conveys modern metropolis feelings by its particular design. When the curtain of night falls down, the neon light emitting from the bridge and the surrounding buildings shine each other , making the night view of the city more illusive.
Totally invested with 124.023 million Yuan and being one of the antecedent projects for the sustainable development of Xining , the Kunlun Bridge mainly acts a role in the vehicle transit of No.109 national highway and in alleviation the urban traffic congestion caused by transitting vehicles to enhance the service level of the municipal highways. It¡¯s an important project along the Southern Circle Expressway of Xining.
With a span of 1,132 metres, the Kunlun Bridge features double-deck steel and concrete forming a single tower. The turnplates at intersections of the Huanghe Road and the Changjiang Road have a diameter of 40 m and 64 m respectively. The single tower of the bridge is draught with sparse diagonal cables and is of rigid frame. The four hollow square columns etend to the 69.5-meter high tower top where is decorated with a five-meter-diameter ball. The bridge is double-decked and 20 meters wide. The upper deck is 678 meters long and is for motor vehicles , the lower deck 348 meters long and non motor vehicles.
Mr. Zhang, a citizen in Xining , said that the Kunlun Bridge was built under many people¡¯s attention. The schedule of its building once was a subject of family talking .When the construction finished, lots of excited citizens gathered to the open-to-traffic ceremony spot to have a look. Mr. Liu , also a citizen in Xining , said that he had seen symbolic buildings in other cities yet not in Xining, the completion of the Kunlun Bridge had undoubtedly adds some modern atmosphere to Xining, making citizens feel confident to live in.
