QHNEWS -- The construction of the currently largest alkali production project in the nation is going on smoothly. 1.4 billion Yuan has been invested in the construction , accounting for 85% of the total investment for the first building phase.
The under - building alkali project is located in the southern part of Delingha City of Haixi Tibatan and Mogolian Autonomous Prefecture. With a total investment of 3 billion Yuan , the 1.6-billion-yuan first building phase of the project is to build a alkali production line being able to produce 0.9 million tons of alkali annually.
Since Aug. 2003 , when the project started, raw materials like limestones , coal and industrial salt have been ready for the first phase production.
The project has recruited 800-plus employees, 400 of which have been sent to Tangshan and Tianjing (both are cities in the north of China) for vocational training.
The production line of the first phase is planned to be ignited on June 28 this year and to achieve a producing target of 0.25 million tons of alkali in the year. The second phase of the project will be put to use in June , 2006, with the same production capacity as the first phase. Editem (April 30, 2005)
