 QHNEWS -- Qinghai Cultural and Artistic Exhibition opened on January 16 in Mexico City. About a hundred of attendees including Ren Jingyu, Chinese ambassador to Mexico , and representatives from Oaxaca State Government, Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, and other circles attended the exhibition.
The items on display in the exhibition cover folk paper-cutting, farmers' paintings, shadow puppet, embroidery ( that of three ethnic groups including Tibetan, Tu, and Hui), Tibetan applique embroidery and Tangka (scroll paintings in Tibetan language), and pictures showing the charming scene in Qinghai. These exhibits display a panoramic features about the province¡¯s culture, geography, landscape and the life of the 6 main ethnic groups in the province.
Ren Jingyu expressed on the opening ceremony his pleasure of appreciating the essence of Qinghai folk culture in a foreign country. He also heartily hoped the cultural exchange would deepen the friendship between China and Mexico.
Qu Qinshan, the delegation leader of the exhibition and the director of the Propaganda Department of Qinghai Committee of the CPC ( the Communist Party of China), indicated in the speech of the opening ceremony that the exhibition aimed at bilateral cognition between the world and Qinghai and promotion of exchange and cooperation in the fields of tourism and economy through showing Qinghai folk culture.
Han Guorong, a member of the delegation and vice general director of Qinghai Tourism Bureau, said that Qinghai receives over 6 mln tourists annually with an income exceeding 2 bln Yuan, yet it shares a quite limited proportion of foreign tourists. Qinghai government plans to develop tourism as an important industry to promote the province¡¯s economic development. More foreign tourists are welcome to plateau featured scene. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway, which will begin its trial operation on July 1, 2006, will act a more convenient role in Qinghai¡¯s tourism development.
On the opening ceremony, the chairman of Oaxaca State Association of Art, Holiday and Traditional Culture revealed that the association members will visit Qinghai in July in respond to the invitation of Qinghai Provincial Government.
Qinghai once held such exhibition in Australia and New Zealand in 2004. The next destination will be the European Continent. Editem (January 18, 2006)
