Tibetan antelope are regarded as "the pride of Hol Xil". For many years people have been making unremitting efforts to protect the endangered species. But numbers of antelope still appear to have dropped. Dr. Su Jiangping of the Chinese Academy of Sciences says any estimation of numbers is unconvincing until an on-the-spot investigation is made. But he confirms that Tibetan antelope are on the edge of extinction. At the same time, he warns that people should pay more attention to the conservation of other animals in the area, like the brown bear.
