Qinghai lake is teeming with Pseudosciaena crocea, rich in fishing prospects. It is worth mentioning that ice fish produced here is very famous.every ice season, when qinghai lake is locked in ice, people drill holes to fish on the ice surface. The fish beneath the water will jump out of the hole under the attractions of sunshine or light. People catch them, which  are considered a delicacy when cooked. The haixin mountain and bird island are famous tourist attractions. Haixin mountain is also called longxin island with the total size of  about one square kilometers, in which there are jagged rocks and Picturesque sceneries. It has been well-known for longju since ancient times. The famous bird island is situated in the west of qinghai lake, which is near the biggest Buha River within the LiuZhu lake. it has only 0.5 square  kolimeters, on which there are more than 100000 migrant birds inhabit in spring and summer. in order to protect the bird resources on the islands, specialized institutions in charge of bird  researc and protection have  been established.

     There are vast natural pastures on the banks of qinghai lake,with large fertile and rich fields and abundant mineral resources. It is snowy in winter and rainy in summer and autumn. Therefore, it has adequate water resources and plentiful amount of rainfall, which create favorable conditions for agriculture and animal husbandry. In the early ancient times, it was an important origin place of horses, cows and sheep. The horses produced around qinghai lake were very famous in the spring and autumn  times, which were called "Qinma "at that time. The book of odes has decribes their competence in steeding and strength and power. In the following Sui-tang Dynasty, the horses here were copulated with wusun horses and xuehan horses and became good horses with unique characteristics, which were famed with both their capabilities in steeding and competences in fighting in the wars.

      The peripheral areas of qinghai lake is very flat and fertile. The agricultural production has very brilliant prospect. The local people give priorities in development of livestock breeding, and make plans to cultivate fodder and forage base. State-owned farms have been set up which develop crops production, with fodder and  oil-bearing crops as the key points. People have begun to construct some rising towms around Daotang river on the grassland which was very solitory and desolate in past times. Besides. some factories and mining plants have also been established, in which there are coal, building materials, machinery repairing, fur processing and ethnic articles.
