  Tangka refers to Tibetan scroll paintings. Most of them are paintedand kept in lamaseries. Tangka initiated in the 7th century and washighly developed in the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty. They haveformed many different branches and painting organizations. The contentof Tangka is mainly made up of Buddha pictures and Buddhism stories.The paintings are of different types and sizes. The small ones areabout 0.2 to 0.3 meters long and wide. The large ones are 3 meters longand wide. Most of the paintings are painted on cloth or paper withmineral pigments, but there are some special ones asfollows:Embroidered Tangka. It has cloth as the background anddifferent designs embroidered with colorful thread.Silk Tangka. SilkTangka has silk as the background and colorful thread as latitude onwhich different designs are then embroidered.
  Appliqued Tangka. Appliqued Tangka has different silk designs cut and stuck to the silk used as the background.
  Pearl Tangka. Pearl Tangka has colorful cloth as the background and pearls arranged in different designs.
  Printed Tangka. Printed Tangka has more beautiful colors and look splendid.
