BEIJING

Regong art from Qinghai province is an influential school of Tibetan Buddhist culture. Originating in the Yuan dynasty (AD 1206-1368), it includes such forms as tangka, murals, embroidery and sculpture.

Its themes are Buddhist sutras, historical events, legends and mythology.

The ongoing exhibition displays more than 100 works.

China Eight-Eyes, a male quartet founded in 1990, greets audiences with popular love songs from overseas and here, for a Valentine's Day show. Tunes will include Nights on Grassland, Snow Lotus on Icy Mountain, A Night in Moscow's Suburb and Oh Susanna.

Farmer-artists from Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Jilin provinces present their folk art works at the Art Gallery of the Maizidian Community Cultural Center in downtown Beijing.

The exhibition features at least 1,000 paper cut and batik works, ink scrolls, oil paintings, and handicrafts.

Traditional painter Hu Youben has found a way of making ink works fresh and contemporary. By scratching and folding the paper, he makes his works progressively more abstract, with three-dimensional landscapes. His folded paper works resemble mountains, rivers, clouds and the sky.

This drama depicts Zhenbao's love story. There are two women in his life: his prim wife and a saucy mistress. Zhenbao describes them, respectively, as a white rose and a red rose in his life. Based on Eileen Chang's novel, Red Rose and White Rose, it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese drama.

The Labeque sisters, acclaimed French pianists Katia and Marielle, are known for their superlative musicianship and the extraordinary scope of their repertoire, ranging from Bach to Stravinsky. They are the world's No. 1 duo pianists and will lead Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra for the concert, Two Become One.

Stage Eyes has been refined over 10 years and traveled to over 15 countries and territories. German curator Rian Bullock originally invited 19 artists to express their views on drama in some visual form. Stage Eyes-Visual Arts and Drama is on display in Guangdong Museum of Art.
