More than 3,000 residents of Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, on Sunday attended the funeral of a young charity worker named Xiong Ning who was killed in a traffic accident during the recent snow disaster.

Though many of them had never met the young woman, the gathered mourners were all deeply moved by Xiong's lifelong commitment to charity.

Xiong was born on Aug 24, 1978, and became actively involved in charitable causes after graduating from university. She and her husband and two other friends collected clothes and medicines for people in disaster-stricken areas in Yushu Tibet autonomous prefecture, Qinghai province, and delivered the goods themselves earlier this month.

On March 10, Xiong was killed in a traffic accident as she traveled to an orphans' school in Xining, capital of Qinghai province.
